Most  Frequently Asked Questions and The Answers

1.) Question: How do I login to my Control Panel ? Answer: You can always login from the JKDIRECT.NET home page. Use the same username and password you chose during signup. You will be taken to your own private Control Panel. After your domain name is active across the web (propagated), you can have a login box on your web site if you want.

2.) Question: My domain name is brand new. I know it takes several days for my domain to "point" to my web server. How do I upload and test my new web site now ? Answer: When your account is opened, we create a special shortcut that serves as a temporary "address" for your web page. Technically it is called an Instant Access Domain Alias. You can put it into your FTP program where it asks for "Host Name" or "FTP Server". You can also type it into your browser to view your web pages live. Just login to your Control Panel (See Question #1). Click the icon named Web Options, and at the bottom of the next page you will find your Instant Access Domain Alias.

3.) Question: How do I get my domain to "point" to the web server I just got ? Answer: If you registered your domain through us, then that is taken care of automatically. If you already have a domain name registered through a different registrar, then you must go there and change your Domain Name Server (DNS) Settings, so that your domain uses the JKDIRECT domain name servers. Just remove the old DNS servers and replace them with the following two name servers. If they ask for the IP ADDRESSES of the name servers, just enter them as shown below:

     NAME SERVERS      IP ADDRESS

     ns1.jkdirect.net          63.148.227.4

     ns2.jkdirect.net          63.148.229.242

4.) Question: How do I set up and use E-Mail ? Answer: First, login to your Control panel (See Question #1). Then click on the icon named e-mail. You can add an e-mail user to your domain by selecting "add new mail resource". The Mail Service Settings are shown for setting up PC-based e-mail programs such as Outlook. You can also used Web-Based E-Mail, which requires no settings on the PC. It all operates through the browser window. This is especially useful if you want to check your e-mail from someone else's PC. There are two ways to access your Web-Based E-Mail. If you are in your Control Panel, just click the icon named Web Mail. If you are on any PC connected to the web, just type into the browser "jkdirect.net/mail". Login using your full e-mail address (including your domain name) for the username. Follow the on-screen directions.
